This tree stands in the middle of a field. Here is my first attempt to capture something of its character, if you will. I plan on working this subject some more- suggestions on improvement are very appreciated. Thanks!

Very interesting idea. I would like to see a larger range of grays in the tree itself.

Thanks, E.J. Other than shooting this where the sun is more to the front of the tree, is there any way to get a larger range of grays in the tree, as you suggested?

I like the idea. How did you do the conversion? No channel mixer in elements which would be my prefered method.

Thanks Neil. I just converted to grayscale than messed around with brightness/contrast and levels until it looked right to me.

The idea is great, and you got a nice image. But i would try to shoot this on B&W film, that has way more dynamic range and will provide you with the grays E.J. was talking about.
