One of my favorite walks is Big Creek Marsh in Long Point. In the early morning at this time of year can be found large numbers of Snapping Turtles digging in to lay their eggs.

On the same morning I saw both Mink and Ermine (Short-tailed Weasel), both of which will predate these eggs when they can.

Cool picture. Subject matter is awesome.. For my tastes, just a little over on the exposure...Love the moss on the shell!

I like it. The background is a little hot, but that may be necessary to get the detail on the much darker turtle itself.

Thanks for posting an unusual subject.

What an amazing image Harold! This just looks like a living fossil.

It can't have been easy to expose for the Turtle against that reflective white sand in the BG. IMHO you handled it well here. Thanks for posting such a fascinating creature. 8) 8) 8) :)

That mossy shell and mesmerizing eye are great.

Great detail in Ol' Mossy there...

From what I can tell, you use a canon DSLR - if this was shot with that as well, you could easily do a linear conversion and combine them to get a little more dynamic range in the highlites.
