Congratulations! This is the Image of the Week selection for the Flora and Macro Gallery, week ending 25th December, 2009!I took some time, but I finally managed to create a habitat shot which I was satisfied with (this was taken in July in the Netherlands).

D300, Nikkor 10.5 F2.8 Fisheye, ISO200, F13, 1/160s.

Certainly a neat habitat image, but purists would correct the horizon distortion due to the fisheye. This however is more artistic than a level horizon.
Enjoy viewing

Hi

Well it certainly works for me!!!

The composition is sound with the subject well placed to create an excellent focal point – but mostly its the lighting that really makes the view

All the best
Matthew

A great alternative to the all too overdone dragonfly portrait.

hi Andrew,

the df sort of anchors the whole scene...very nice...I actually like the curved horizon...has a 3D effect.

A cool closeup with habitat - the dragonfly looks great, and is a good size in the frame, an accomplishment for a wide angle image like this. More shadow detail at the bottom, perhaps?

Thanks all!

@Tom: I've chosen to leave the bottom a bit darker, because of some distracting elements, but thanks for the tip!
Greetings, Andrew George

I missed viewing this shot, but this is a very original habitat shot.
Congrats on IOW.
