After using the MkIIn for a little while I'm finding the viewfinder display (S speed, aperture, ISO etc.) seems a lttle dim and hard to see when out in bright daylight, much more so than previous cameras I've owned. Is there any adjustment for brightness? I couldn't find anything in the manual. Have others noticed this to be an issue? Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'm pretty sure there is a CF that will allow you to change this to where the viewfinder information won't dim. I can't remember the CF #

The only adjustment is for the AF point brightness as I can recall. In any case it's all in here:

I, too, have a 1D MkIIN, but have not experienced a dim viewfinder display. I wonder if you've got a problem with your camera?

I did notice that it seemed brighter when I mounted an EF lens which only arrived yesterday. Previously I was using an adapted MF lens. Wonder if it adjusts brightness based on what lens is attached?? I'll try again in the same conditions with both lenses on the weekend and report back.

I checked it out and found what was happening. The LED brightness is variable and gets brighter with a brighter image, but only with an EF lens attached. When I attach the adapted lens it appears to default to minimum brightness. I did find that there is a switch in the mount which activates when a lens is attached. The adapter initially tripped that switch, but the camera expected to talk to a lens and threw an error when it could not communicate. Problem solved by filing a small section off one of the lugs of the adapter so it no longer tripped the switch.
