I heading off to Uganda in a few days and I've been searching for one to take with me. Everyone seems to be sold out. Would prefer a USA, not an import model. Any ideas?

I have this lens and it's a great performer. Try Aden Camera in Ontario, Canada. It's listed as being in stock on their website but call to confirm. $639 Cdn.

Consider buying a used copy? The new 100 2.8 IS macro was just released, but that won't be directly replacing it and therefore affecting supply.

But with the International Warranty, where would I have to send the lens should it need repair?

A used lens may be my only option at this late date.

Rick if you are not dead set onthe Canon 100 the Sigma 150 is a super performer... maybe easier to get too.

It's sold out because a new model of the lens with advanced IS was just introduced. I would go get a Sigma 150mm

May I ask why you would get a Sigma over the Canon? Thanks, RF

The 100mm IS will be supplementing the non-IS, not replacing it.

Rick

The Sigma 150 is just a super performer, sharp as a tack.

The Sigma 150 is one of the best if not the best Macro lens for sharpness, brightness, and price on the planet. And it gives you 50% more working distance and better background than a 100mm.

You will love it, it is the one Sigma lens I recommend over OEM lenses.

Looking forward to it. I also just purchased the new 16-35mm L II. I think I'm pretty much set for Africa now. Thanks again.
