Unfortunately, or fortunately, next week I will have a pacemaker implanted on my left side, just below the collar bone. Meaning that I will no longer be able to carry a regular backpack. I am looking for a "sling bag" that covers only my right shoulder. It must fit in an airline overhead compartment. Normally I will want to transport a 1Ds Mark III and three lenses, the 16-35mm, the 24-105mm, and the 70-300mm DO. The lenses are compact and should not be much of an issue with a good sized bag.

Do you have any recommendations? I am focused on the LowPro SlingShot 300 AW as one choice.

Thanks and best regards,

Bill

I have the LowePro SlingShot 200 AW, and it works well for me. With this bag I can carry my 1Ds Mk2, the 24-105 (attached), 70-200, and either my 17-40 or 100mm macro. It is also possible carry a combination of the 1Ds, a 300mm F/4, and another lens. I use a small hand towel separate and pad the lenses. The top compartment has enough room for an extra battery, a couple of filters, memory cards, and misc stuff. It is possible to pack more stuff, but it becomes uncomfortable to carry for much distance.

I hope that helps...

Thanks Mike, this helps. Occasionally I might want to carry a 400mm f/5.6L along with the 16-35mm and the 1Ds III body. Will the 200 AW do that?

Thanks and best regards,

Bill

I don't have the 400 F/5.6, but from the Canon web site, the lengths of the lenses are:
400 f/5.6 ... 10.1"
300 f/4 ....... 8.7"

The 300 barely fits, so I'd say the 400 is a no-go with this bag.
