I am considering a grid screen for my 1DIII. I've found the grid useful on other camera bodies for landscapes. Is there a downside for general photography, portraits, etc on the 1DIII? I'd love to hear from a few who have used the grid screen on a 1D body.

Thanks,

I used them exclusively when I was shooting Canon and still do on Nikon - nothing but upside IMHO.

I have the Canon grid focusing screen for my 5D MkII and I absolutely love it. It really helps in getting the horizon straight, and I only need to take a quick glance at my bubble level to confirm, rather than having to twiddle around... No downside as far as I'm concerned.

Just what EJ said. Used on both Canon and Nikon with no problems

What is the "grid screen" for the Nikon D700 called?

The D700's screens are not interchangeable as far as I know - at least not in an "authorized" manner

Every camera I own has an E SCREEN in place, highly recommended.

No grid no glory!
A great photograph is absorbed by the eyes and stored in the heart.
