WESTERN FENCE LIZARD, Sceloporus occidentalis

Canon 10D, 300f/2.8 with 2x, ISO 200, f/13, 1/350, Gitzo monopod, full frame

This is my first post in Wildlife. This lizard is very common at Bolsa Chica where I spend most of my time on avian. What caught my attention was the bright blues and greens, which I believe are the beginning of breeding colors (almost said plumage). I'm not use to being able to get so close (15ft) to a subject that is so still, and wish the far foot was in focus. I would have thought F/13 would have been sufficient.

Thanks for looking and strong critique is very welcome.

Welcome to Wildlife Larry and what a great shot to start with!! Great detail and colour flashes in this handsome Lizard. I like your selective use of DOF and the expression captured in the face of the Lizard is great!! I look forward to more from you. Thanks for posting. 8) 8) :)

Glad you could join us in Wildlife. Very nice lizard with great colors and detail. While it would be nice to have the hind foot in focus, I would be very happy to have this as shot. Thanks for contributing.
