I posted a prior image of a panicked zebra. This was the culprit that caused him to panic. Ngorongoro crater.

First you spotted it, then you photographed it!

Nice job of isolating it. There's virtually NOTHING else in the photo.

Cleanest background I've ever seen on a hyena shot - by a mile! And one of the cleanest hyenas as well, well at least from the knees up. Very nice clean shot of perhaps the scuzziest animal I've ever seen. Really stands out. (Gotta chuckle also that there are no flamingos or their reflections here, assuming this is Lake Magadi.)

Jim,

This is also the cleanest shot I have seen of a hyena. Excellent portrait. Great lighting and I love the intent look on his face. I would have 'panicked' too if I saw this hyena staring at me and sizing me up for lunch! Thanks for sharing your wonderful Africa shots here in Wildlife.

I wondered why this was taking so long to load on my old dial up connection Jim and now I know!! 975 pixels on the longest side!! = way over the limit!! of 650 pixels - which it is on the shortest side!!

Now it is finally in view, well partly, as it goes off the side of the monitor, it is an excellent image of the guy everyone loves to hate. I have a grudging admiration for these creatures and they have their place in the overall scheme of things.

Superb shot, well done!! 8) 8) :)

Great shot with the muddy little paws. Looks like a scrappy guy.

Excellent, Jim.
The image is over 900 pixels wide. If you would resize it, it would be easier to appreciate the whole image.

Love the light in this one, Jim. The cool b/g put it over the top for me. You brought back some great stuff from TZ and this is definitely one pf the best.
