Some Little Blues are bluer than others. I found this one last spring during the breeding season, done up in his finest.

I can't find the data on this but I know it was Canon 1D, 500 f/4, probably with 2X.

That is the bluest blue heron I've ever seen. Wonderful with the saturated greens.

This is the simplicity I wish I had in my LBH shot.

Blue and green together always make for nice viewing. Thanks for showing how it should be done! :)

Lovely compsoition with super colors. I think that perhaps the day was a diffused lighting thin cloud cover day in which color saturations are the best in my experience. Was that so?

Best,

Peter:
You are right about the light, a sort of a hot, hazy morning. Looking at the dual catchlights I guess I had some flash going, too, so that probably added to the blue. I was also shooting jpegs back then, and may have been using a hi-chroma camera setting as well.

I've never seen them this blue...Stunning

By the way, my view exif program says you shot this on the EOS 1D; 1/400; f/6.3; - 1/3 comp.; @700mm :P

aj,

I've never seen one this hormonally-charged either. Great shot !

Did you pump up the saturation at all?
