Image taken at Triple D in January. There were few times that all three wolves were together for a shot. The surrogate mother is teaching the pup who's the boss.

Nikon D100, 80-400mm, aperture priority.

Critiques welcome.

It looks more like play than fighting. Great interaction.

This is an amazing capture. Do you see a lot of wolves there and do they do this a lot? Or did you freeze your buns off waiting to see them. I am truly awed.

I've got another shot of just two of them to share sometime that really shows they were fighting (lots of growling teeth)!

Triple D brings the wolves out into a large, fenced area. The wolves are allowed to roam there - hence the few photo ops with all three. This day, the temp was in the low 30s - not too bad. We were happy to have snow! We go inside to warm up between photo sessions.

Always good to see Wolf images Carolyn, and this is another nice catch of the action from you! :)

Harvey is right in a way, this isn't a serious fight, just the Alpha female giving junior a reminder of his place in the pecking order. With the flesh tearing canine teeth of the Wolf, nasty wounds can (and do) quickly ensue in a serious fight, and although junior is showing his teeth in this shot, in Wolf society that is as much, if not more, a sign of submission to the dominant members of the pack as it is agression. There is a lot of bluff, and counter bluff in their body language!

Having said that, it doesn't take away from this being a good shot for this week's motif and you have done well to maintain sharpness with the action going on! Nice one! :)
