Don,

This is a nice first post. The wing spread is what makes it for me. Background is a little busy but this is where this guy lives.

Hope to see more of your images. :)

Welcome to NSN Don Very good pose, good head turn, properly exposed and sharp. Very good first pose there is nothing you could have done better. The background doest not bother me that much you picked a good setting for the bird. Keeper.

Next time you go, try getting the bird sitting on the wood fence. Sometimes is possible to get a clean background. You do need to luck out in which way the birds are facing (wind dependent)

Yep, this is what Anhingas do. A lot. Seems like it would put the bird in a vulnerable position, to always be hanging around drying out its wings, but I suppose not too many predators will take a bird this large. Or with such a sharp beak! :)

I like your framing, and the way the bird is looking. Doesn't quite seem to be looking at you, but maybe wondering "did I get out of the water too quickly? That fish over there looks yummy...". The only thing I might ask for, and it's not even a nit, is more color saturation; easily done in your favorite photo editor. But I'm a color fiend, so don't mind me.
