Brown Bear-sow with cubs
Hallo Bay bear camp
Katmai, AK
STL

I thought this one worked well for the motif. It was taken about 11 pm last July as the sun was getting low. It was one of my last images from this trip.

Canon EOS3 with 500mm IS on tripod, Provia 100F, cropped to pan from top and bottom.

Comments/critiques always welcome and appreciated.

Congratulations! I see nothing that can be improved upon. This is a delight to view. The light is wonderful and the interaction with the first bear looking back to make sure the others are keeping up tells a great story... Pano was the crop of choice..As always your work raises the bar...

Great shot Cheryl, Dennis pretty much covered it, but the pano crop does make the shot IMO.

The light is wonderful. Nice timing on the rearward glance of the sow.

Perfect composition, light and pano crop in this image Cheryl and what makes it for me is the perfect timing to get that backward glance of the Sow as she keeps an eye on her cubs and thus links them all together! Beautiful image!! 8) 8) 8) :)

Gotta love a shot with two younguns following Mom. This is a rare treat, thanks for sharing it!

Good use of the pano format. Your signature helps balance out what could be a slightly right-heavy image, but cropping a tad more off the left should be possible because Mom is turned around looking back.

The color in this reminds me of a film image. Ah, I see it IS a film image! Man, I'm good. :) Wish I could get a digital EOS 3. :) :) :)

C, you go girl!

This is a kiler image. There is nothing like late summer light in AK. I wish I was back there now. Spoke to them today, only 60 moose in the area and the wolves are on the increase. Can't wait for the August salmon run

Best,

Chas

This is awesome, Cheryl!! The golden light really enhances the color of their coats. The pano crop is perfect for this one. :)

This is perfect, Cheryl -- great light, poses, and separation between the animals. Those are a couple of monster cubs.
