Black Lemur Captive
Bronx Zoo, Bronx, NY

Two weeks ago I went down to the Bronx Zoo for a little shooting and had a great time. I caught this guy sleeping and got a close one. Most black lemurs are indeed black, but several groups, including this one, are red in color. Hope you like it!

Such beautiful red hair and so peaceful. Looking like he could use a face lift though. Very nice image. Your composition is nice.

Heh, looks more like an orange Lemur sleeping to me. :) Just being a wise guy.

This is excellent, and so close! The animal looks very peaceful and relaxed.

I think the photo is soooo realistic; it gives me the impression of seeing a wax creation. Double wow.

Wow, that's excellent! The exposure is right on the money despite less than ideal light.

I love it. The lighting works well here, illuminating his fur and making him look a little angelic.

Matthew, the sleepy, relaxed pose is so great! What great detail in the whiskers and wrinkles!

Matthew,

This is outstanding. The tight crop draws me in and makes me wonder what he's dreaming. :)

Are you sure this is a Lemur?

It definitely looks like any sort of monkey to me...
Isent it possible that you might confused zoo tags?

Beautiful image Matthew, but I have to agree with Alexandre that IMHO this is NOT a Black Lemur and certainly looks more like one of the monkey species.

The lemur features are more fox-like with more prominent muzzle and fur covered face.

I should be interested to know what this really is! and it is indeed a beautiful shot! 8) :?

I must have been confused, but I SWEAR I read black lemur. Hmm, now I have an excuse to back and check. ;)
Thanks for all the kind words!

Stunning Matthew because the Lemur looks so doggon human! Really. Wonderful details and spot on exposure. Perfect DOF.
