Taken at the Waterfall Park in Costa Rica last summer. This is a commercial enterprise that includes hummingbird gardens, a butterfly pavillion, botanical garden and 5 spectacular waterfalls. I only managed to get to 3 of the falls before the park closed, having dawdled with the hummers and b'flies.

Canon EOS 1v, Velvia, Sigma 15-30mm lens, 81b warming gel, evaluative metering in Av mode at f/22.

Looks like a beautiful jungle setting and a nice photo. The water does look just a bit overexposed.

The setting's really beautiful. This is a very hard exposure with the water so bright and the greens so dark. Without merging multiple exposures, I think you did the best with what you had here. Nice photo.

Gorgeous scene, Lillian...I really like the different shades of green. Is it me or does the image appear a bit soft...maybe it's just me, because nobody else has mentioned it...
Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap, but memories are priceless.

Mahesh, I notice the softness too. Maybe just a bit more USM?

Thanks for the input. I think what looks like softness is the combination of mist from the falls (I had to keep covering the camera between shots, and wiping the lens off) and the movement of the foliage during a long exposure. The whites are lost during scanning, though there is a smaller bright spot on the original.

Lillian,

What better time to shoot than right at the end of the day, just before closing. The light is fantastic, nice and warm. The leaf in the foreground is great too and really says that this is a tropical waterfall. I love the softness, even if it's just from the spray on the lens - together with the warm colors the softness make this look like a Rembrant painting.
