I try not to post too many images most of you may have seen before, but this one fit the motif too well to pass up, IMO.

The image: it's all about time in the field. I followed this guy through the forest for a long time one day, not getting a single shot, but enjoying the walk. Finally, upon scenting another bear approach, he rose to his hind feet, and glanced around. I had time to snap one frame, and before I could try for another composition, the moment was gone.

The bear, as is always my luck, had been tagged by the NPS biologists, and I cloned out a small ear tag from the image.

Cheers

Carl

OutSTANDING subtlety in this composition! And you're right, I wouldn't have passed up the opportunity to post with the motif. I hadn't seen this fine shot before, and I'm sure glad you shared it and the story of it's capture.

It only needed to be sharp in one spot and you got it. Neat.

I like this a lot. The sharp eye peering out from the OOF branches is very creative.
