Well with all of these big cats hanging around this week, I thought I'd better post a big moose so he had a fighting chance...

Getting this image was vastly more challenging than my typical moose shot. I hiked into a remote valley that is open to hunting since I knew there were usually several very nice bulls in the area. Luckily I found this one around mid day when he got up to move. He laid down after I started to stalk him so I almost walked past him. After he got up to check out the sound of my shutter releasing, he looked at me of a minute, then headed off in a run. By the time I got back to my car, it was a 12 hour day, with only about 10 minutes of it actually taking pictures of this guy.

Stunning! Enviable! No fair - your moose are bigger than ours out here in the east.

A magnificent animal well captured. I'd consider a small bottom crop.

now that's one big moose. nice shot Tim. maybe I'd play around with composition moving this big guy a bit off center vertically either way but great shot just as you have it.

Great shot Tim!! I think the composition is perfect in this particular instance, and don't know how you could move him anywhere but centre with that hatstand on his head!!

That is one BF (Big Fat) Moose! Watch out, you'll scare all the cats away. :)

Nicely captured!

Tim,

Great shot. That was 12 hours well spent.

I believe we met in Denali last year. I was in the Savage River campground with Mark and Lucas. It's great to see some of the results of your "treks".

Hey Tim,

awesome moose - great job man! And congrats on the POW too.

I don't mind the centered composition here . it's all about the subject here .. he owns the frame, if he wants to stand dead center, let him! :D

Cheers
