Siberian Tiger (captive), Detroit Zoo, MI
Nikon D2H, 500 mm f4 AFS, 1.4X, ISO200

To contribute to the motif this week, this was from a shoot earlier this winter and ended up being one of my favorites from the day.

Hammer away!

Unique perspective Mark. I have come back to this several times before commenting because i was trying to decide what it is that doesn't quite work for me and I think it is the crop. For my personal taste, I like a tighter crop near the head as a vertical or almost a square. I like the angle the head is turned at as it looks very 3D and the colors and detail are wonderful. Thanks for posting to the motif.

Nice rendering of this cat. I think posted a bit larger it would be more impactful.

I like it, but agree with Cheryl, something's not quite right. I think it's the "awkward" crop. But as I say I do like. It's a beautiful cat

My first thought is that I like that you've filled the whole frame with the animal. That and the pose give this a "very large cat" feel.

Am I the only one who secretly wishes I could reach out and pet their heads? Thank god for housecats on which I can expend that urge, or I'd probably be a paraplegic!
