This image was taken just after my previous post which focused closer on the intimate details of the sunlit fog. Here I zoomed out to capture the bigger picture.

As always, I greatly appreciate your honest critique which helps me learn, so please hammer on! Reposts welcome.

Thanks for looking,

Anders

Nice. I would crop a bit of the empty sky though.

Beautiful! We don't get too many scenes like this out my way, and it is pleasant to see. By my eyes a crop to the upper portion would crowd the sun. Did you use a GND for this?

Hadn't seen your prior post and just checked that one out as well. Very, very different moods in the two shots. Both very well done. Wouldn't change a thing here. Cropping at the top IMO would move the sun and clouds too high. When the image first started to appear, my thought was "airplane shot." I think keeping the clouds low in the frame really sets this one off. You don't expect a wonderful sunrise with an open field AND looking down on the clouds. Only suggestion would be if you could just slightly darken those distant moutains.

Thanks a lot for the comments this far. I really appreciate them, as I struggle a lot to objectively assess my own images.

Roger,

I did not use an ND filter. I found from the histogram in the camera that I could cover the whole tonal range with one exposure (well, almost - a smaller part of the sun was hot, but I figured that would be ok).

In PS I did however apply a mask to the area above the clouds which allowed me to darken that area selectively, so there is a bit of ND effect present in the image.

Thanks again,

Anders

Very, very nice. I wouldn't crop this either; I find the blank space here actually serves as an apt contrast to the fog/cloud layer and the details below. Excellent work.

Very nice. I'm getting tired of all this coastal fog we're having. I was in Tucson this weekend and it was nice to shoot something else. Supposedly it will be clear by the middle of the week. I'm going to shoot some seascapes.

Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap, but memories are priceless.

This is excellent! I like it as is, and would also like a cropped version too. This is really very nice.
