Does anybody know the shortcut for adding a "merged layer" at the top of your layers pallet so you can print without actually merging the layers? It's something like SHIFT/ALT/CTRL D, but I can't remember it to save my life.

Thanks

On Windows, I believe it's alt-ctrl-shift-E

I know this is not what you were asking but(initially out of ignorance and sometimes now because I forget) I print all the time without flattening the image on my Epson4800. It prints fine and seems to be just as fast.

I am too senile to remember four-key menu commands and too digitally impaired to press four keys at once.

So. . . If you go to the layers menu and hold down the option key while clicking on merge visible, it will put a new, merged layer at the top of all the other layers.

Also, I could print well with my old Epson 7600 with all the layers open and a USB connection, but I cannot do so with my HP Z3100 and a USB connection. I have to use ethernet and Bonjour (on a Mac). Bad HP firmware, I believe. To print using USB connection I would have to merge the layers, also.

Being able to place a new layer comprised of the merged visible layers beneath it is a good tool for a bunch of sharpening techniques and selective tone change techniques, also.

CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+N+E will merge existing layers up into a new one.
