Here is another shot from Mon am and our last swim with the manatees. One of the reasons I posted this shot was because it is one of the best shots I have that shows the 3 nails on the manatees front flipper and also I like the angled view while this one is swimming. I will also post other shots that show different characteristics or behaviours of these gentle creatures.

Canon 10D with 17-35mm lens @17mm, ISO 400 1/400 @ 5.6. Shot while snorkeling.

inspiring. What housing did you use? Was it a dedicated housing or one of the zip bag types? :D :D :D :D :D

Ditto what Dave said Cheryl, this is a beautiful shot and perfect composition. That soft green light is superb. 8) 8) :)

Glad to see your 10D is back and working properly! (And I admire your courage bringing it underwater!) Also love both of your shots. Who does his/her nails? And a question I perhaps shouldn't ask, how can you tell a male from a female?

Steve,

it was an EWA bag with a double channel lock and it was a little unnerving placing a 10D and a 17-35 Canon lens underwater but it worked just fine. 4 of us used the bags which are a much cheaper way to go than buying dedicated housing, especially if you don't plan to use it a lot.

Nice capture Cheryl. Love the light and angle of the manatee, who looks likes it's just crusing on by. :)
