I just bought a Hitech 3 stop soft edge graduated neutral density filter for a Cokin P-mount holder. It appears to be quite short in length as I had heard others mention previously. Is this going to be a problem? I still have time to send it back. (I'm using it with 35mm equipment)

Hello Barry,

I think the Hitech filters are square. I have the Tiffen square filter and also the Singh-Ray flilters which are longer. It is nice to have the peace of mind offered by the longer filter, but I have never run into a case where the square filter hurt me. As long as the demarcation line, i.e. the horizon, is no less than 1/4 of the way into the frame, you should be safe.

My Hi Tech P-mount filters are most definitely not square and I have not had a problem with their length

No problem with mine either. I'm sure you'll be satisfied.
