Raccoon
Hawks, MI

While doing a loon workshop last June in MI, I was able to shoot a variety of other subjects when I was not on the lake. This raccoon and its sibling were found in a tree a few miles from the lodge. Hole in the tree was about 2 feet off of the ground. I waited for over an hour but was never able to get both babies sticking their heads in the opening.

canon 10D with 500 f/4 IS on tripod, 25% crop, ISO 400, 1/100 @6.3 with fill flash -1.

You forgot the cute alert.

I don't know what you could do to improve this one, Cheryl. Besides being a cutie the image is right on the money.

Very nice. Looks like you've really got this little guy's attention. Gotta agree with Jim on the cuteness alert.

Great shot! I tried this same nest a couple days later and did not do this well. I did get more mosquito bites than I could count.
