This common lionfish, Pterois volitans, is another resident of the sunken dry dock in the edge of the bay in Puerto Galera, Mindoro Is., Philippines. Depth is about 90'. Beautiful but with a sting. The tips of the feathery fins are venemous, not deadly but very painful, and are fanned out as a warning not to come too close. These fish are territorial and are often found in pairs.

Beautifully done once again. The background pattern is interested.

The tail seems a bit under exposed or it may simply be darker than the rest of the fish.

Very cool, especially with the way this unusual fish is framed by the colorful coral. I wish the tail were more visible though.
