Gaur Bos frontalis
Captive
EOS30, Sigma 100-300 F4, Provia 100F, Handheld,

I searched my files for a suitable Motif shot and found this one! not a brilliant image but it does fit the theme I think. :) The Gaur or Wild Ox from India/Malaysia is a very smart looking beast, having a lovely shiny black hide and four white socks - not to forget the wonderful sweeping yellow and black tipped horns and tan coloured hairdo!!

This one was making his presence known for the benefit of his mate - who seemed quite indifferent to his overtures!!

All comments and critiques always welcome and appreciated and thanks for looking.

As you already know the partially illuminated head is working against you from an exposure range standpoint. The Gaur looks so sad though :(

He was sad because his mate was ignoring him! and every time he bellowed he closed his eyes, which made him look even more sad! :)

On our next visit harmony had been restored and they were happy again.

Even with the hot spot, this is a nice shot of an animal I have never even heard of. Thanks for sharing.

You did a great job of catching the mood of this guy. I could guess what was going on without reading your caption.

Nice exposure of a tough color combo.

This must be another critter from the crossword puzzle habitat- lives with the onyx and ibex.
