Whitehouse Butterfly House, Ohio

Sony DSC-S75, 1/320, f/2.8, ISO 100, BG cloning to eliminate some distracting highlights

Out of all the butterflies at the local butterfly house I found this species to be the most extremely hyperactive. They would land on a plant, flap their wings like crazy and take off within seconds. This is the only shot I was able to get of this butterfly. I've been trying to find the name of this species all night but haven't had any luck so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated. All comments and suggestions are welcome. Thanks for looking! :)

It's not in my Butterflies Through Binoculars (The West) book but it is an excellent shot.

Great pose and perch, super color. Nice sharpness at eye and body. A little soft at the wing edges, probably from the wing motion. F22 gives barely enough DOF to get a butterfly sharp from this angle, a favorite of mine.

Looks like Papilio rumanzovia, a tropical butterfly from the Phillipines. See:

Wow, what a cool looking butterfly. Great sharpness in the body. I don't mind the soft wingtips as much because it almost implies motion. Very nice shot.

I haven't been in this forum for a while...

Killer shot! The color and compostion are right on the money. For only having 1 shot of this critter, you did very well.
