Abstract Ice

This is from a sheet of ice that peeled away from a post on our deck and was standing upright by itself. I took this shot this morning, just as the first sunlight hit it. The background is sky. There were too many patterns to choose from, but I liked this one as it looks sort of like an aerial view of ponds and land.

10D, 100 macro, tripod, electronic release. ISO 100, 1/30 sec. at f/29.

Killer image. I like how the light play in the ice formation and the frost around the edges of the holes in the ice.

Ooooh baby, I like this!! So many ways of seeing this I think, especially when you know that that is the sky in the BG. I bet this was a fun one to shoot and then look at the results with all the varying patterns. Very effective cool tones to this cool, cold subject. Glad you were able to take advantage of the moment.
