I sat at (or near) this spot for a good couple hours waiting for just the right light on the mountains down the lake. Unfortunately that light never materialized, but I did get this one. You've probably seen shots by EJ, Steve Mason and others taken from within a few feet of where I took this, but facing the other way.
You can't see them in this shot, but just off to the right, in that grassy areas in the background is a pack of wolves. I happened to see motion out of the corner of my eye while I was sitting there, and after that I spent my time divided between watching them through binoculars, and keeping an eye on the light for photos. (I hadn't replaced the stolen 50-500 at that time, so I never got any shots of the wolves, but they were out of range of 500mm anyway.) This is actually two exposures digitally combined--one for the sky and one for the land/water.
