Cow Elk Rocky Mountain National Park

After getting a taste of photographing the elk in RMNP we went back up today trying to improve using what we learned from yesterday's lessons.

Weekends aren't exactly the best time to go up there but when you work full time, what'cha gonna do? We felt like tourists with expensive cameras jockying for position to photograph the elk amongst the throngs of site-seers.

10D, 300/4, 1.4x

Handheld
Cropped ~10% for balance and composition.

All comments and critiques are welcome. Thanks for looking. :)

I am so glad you got another chance and this cow shot is very nice. Clean and open... well done.. Would you consider a tigher crop right at the elbow? Your persistence paid off.. Well done Bill

Nice exposure job with what looks like a tricky situation with all the bright spots in the bg. She looks like she's chewing her cud! I agree with Dennis' crop suggestion.

Definitely a cleaner shot today. Glad you could make it back out there. i like a crop even higher so the legs are gone altogether and it is a tighter portrait. Well done.

Beautiful animal and a very nice shot. My personal preference would be a crop slightly above the knees rather than below.

Bill, very nice! I'm also glad that you were able to make it back. The crooked jaw from chewing is great!

Good shot and you did well in capturing the highlights in the shadows. A small crop I see has already been mentioned.
