Repost taking into account the various suggestions for which I am very grateful, thanks.
Photographed in a brackish lagune, Nikon D70 80-400 vr @ f8, white balance cloudy, cropped. Constructive criticisms welcome.

I think that the crop is about right in terms of size, but would have liked to have seen the bird further left in the frame. I'm seeing a blue cast here.

I like the pose & anticipation of movement here.

Hi Monique,
I would crop a bit more and agree about moving the bird more to the left. You have a spot on your sensor you would like to get rid of - in front of the chest under the tip of the beak.

Looks flat and a slight contrast boost may help, Monique!

I would try some PS work on this to boost the contrast Monique... possibly some shadow/highlight adjustment + a small "S" curve. :)

I like the pose and ratio Would move the bird back a tad !!! Increasing contrast (brightness) will make a huge difference !!!! I like the image a lot the perfect head position makes it all sharp !!!! Big Congrats !!! 8) 8)

In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is.
