Really well done, Vito, looks like B&W conversion a light Posterize?

well, the "great light" you're talking about...is just a single spot onto this formation...
i blended exposures to get detail in the darker areas...
then i edited up the 'normal shot' for web, and took that image
duplicated the layer, inverted it, selected the darker "greys" on the upper right with the magic wand (to get a randomized selection) and made a layer mask
having made the mask while i had a selection going, it added the black and white to the mask for me
i also magic wanded the white(on the stalactite) in the normal image and filled the area with black on the mask..
then i ran the mask itself through a run of "rough pastels"
giving that effect ;)

hmm, good idea clive!

i had made it b/w for the image (because of the incadescent light here, and the flourescent light there really screws up the white balance lol) and didn't think of changing it for this!

Nice effects Vito! I might consider adding a bit of canvas at the bottom to place the stalactites higher in the frame ? 8) :D
