This was taken at our sewage ponds at the end of August at last light. I could only place myself with lighting from the side, hence the darker right side of the bird. Thanks for looking, and I'd be very interested in your thoughts on this ambient lighting.

1D2, 1/1600 @ f8, ISO320, -2/3EV, Sidekick, late afternoon light, cropped for composition, cloned out spotty rubbish on pond BG

Appears surprisingly noisy for a 1DII @ iso 320, is this a heavyish crop ? Would run this through noise-ninja or similar.

The lighting is very nice, and the flight pose is good too.

Iona is a great place to shoot, Kwan. The darker topside of the wings does bother me here but sometimes you just have to deal with what you can get. This is a very nice image in other respects, though I agree with Colin on the noise. Nice job.

It is not an overly large crop and I am not seeing any noticeable noise, but then I don't have the best of eyes, so I'll give Neat Image a go. Thanks!

I like the contrast in the lighting from the upper to under parts of the wing. I really like how this tail is lit up so nicely. You have some good detail in those secondaries. Though I know there are limits here, it would be nice to see this as a larger size. Do you have a link to a larger size that maybe you can PM me?

When I was on a business trip to Vancouver, BC I went to Iona. One of the best birding/photography experiences I have ever had. Of course my employees laughed at me for spending my free time at sewage ponds, but they didn't have as good a time as I did!

Killer image of this very fast flier. I have rarely had much luck getting these speedsters in flight. Well done.
