I came across this wonderful old pollard tree in Windsor Great Park. They were cut off at about 9-12 feet high so that the regrowth could be protected from browsing deer and stock. The regrowth was then used in building and various crafts.

This is worked in Corel Painter. It has lost quite a bit in shrinking for the web I'm afraid.

Interesting read too. Is that Windsor where the Castle is???? Lovely place :D

Most artistic bruses loose a lot when saved for Web. It's s shame. Sometimes I work on the same size I'll be using to post, to be able to see exactly what I get, but that has down side of being too small to print.

Yep - the very same. I used to work near there and love the gnarled forms of many of the ancient trees. This one is very much a youngster compared to some!
