I tried a new experiment this weekend ... shooting my backyard withOUT including the bayou. I discovered lots of opportunites that I have been overlooking, mostly just studies of shapes and textures.

Elan7e, 28-105, Provia, slight blur in PS. I tried this lightened a bit but ended up prefering it dark.

All comments/suggestions/reposts appreciated.

I like this one, but would like to see it with just a tad more light.

Very nice! I like the vertical lines leading down to the bright leaf. My first thought was that I'd like to lighten it a bit overall, but as I looked longer, I prefer it as-is...it has a feeling of mystery.

Yes, I like this. Good use of the gaussian blur technique.

Understated and beautiful Jenny. I love what's happening on the ground here. The dirt, the crumbling leaves, and of course that magnificent golden leaf. I can almost feel and smell it. I think your choice not to brighten this up is a good one. It has a mood and a feel that needs that darkness I think. You have done well on land and out of your swamp. :) I also like the slight blur...makes it a little less "literal" I guess.

This is wonderful. It looks like some classic still life painting.
