The original image was shot at Venice Rookery, -- an interesting "mistake". I THINK that as I was panning, just as I shot, some long grasses were blown into the foreground. It created an effect that I really liked, though I thought it a bit soft and "dreamy" for posting in the birds forum. After some obsessive Flaming Pear and other filter work (mainly in the background), it seems to belong okay here in the wonderful world of DC.

Some may prefer the original to this one -- if interested, it is at:

It certainly does!!!!!!!!! 8) 8) 8) :)

Very interesting textures and the colors are killer setting for the bird. I do like the cropping of the wing and the defiant placing almost out of the picture

Bravo

Nice to see both Christina. This gives it depth, Really merges well into the background, even in the original. Quite a unique shot to start with. Amazing what the panning and breeze did to this. I would love to take a shot like that Christina.

All the best and very unusual original shot. 12 out of 10 for the effect to start with.

I had to come back and look at your image again. I really like the whole concept and the "feel" you created with this. Are you also a painter?

Why thanks -- I was surprised to see another hit on here! You are quite perceptive -- I am a painter, though have not painted anything for quite some time now. Recently I've been learning figurative sculpture. I'm a graphic artist/designer by trade. I appreciate your comments.
