I would crop the top off to remove the sky...I think a little fill-flash would have helped to bring out the bird a bit more.

I like the environmental approach to these shots.....just can't get over how close you must have been!! I think I'd crop the sky out as well. Nice shot.

I like the zigzag line going through this, Colin. You would probably be down the cliff in order to get the bird off centre. The one in the background helps a little. I like the fish and the environmental aspect.

Very interesting to see the overall environment of these birds. I also like the zigzag lines, and agree that is more emphasized if you crop the sky out. The second bird in the background is another important element to highlight that zigzag. Very nice composition.

Well thoughtout using the 17-40mm with puffins,most folk including myself would leave it at home
