Canon 10D 100-400 IS @ 230mm 1/1500 F8 manual (meter -1.5)
slight crop, and cloned a half pelican from the UL corner.

Not the fish catch shot I've envisioned for years, but getting closer...

Cool!

Is this at the weir? (I might have to stop there on my way into town tomorrow... Every time I've driven by on the Deerfoot this year, I haven't seen any. Probably a good thing, since I wouldn't have been able to stop.)

Yes, this is at the weir a few days ago. Hope to get there late evening one day this weel for some good light....
They were late arriving at the weir, probably due to the raging river, and how murky it was from the flooding. There were a few hundred down in Fish Creek Pk. Someone told me they saw a big flock arrive at the weir a few weeks ago, and turn around to head back south again.

Great view of the open pouch. Nice sharp detail and exposure, wish the light angle was lower.

What a big mouth you have...
Since the angle is quite high, perhaps a tight crop of the head would work.

Pretty amazing, how wide the lower bill is. A great catch, Steve.

I had to take a second look to see the fish.....really fits well in the pouch. Certainly a nice image....and different view. Maybe not what you envisoned......but it sure is interesting.
