While driving home from Palm Springs, I stopped on the side of the freeway (I10 and I15) and took this shot. The smoke made things strange. The edge of the main smoke trail is even with the bottom of the top palm tree. It comes out a bit posterized, but works for me. Comments?
Amazing athmospheric disturbances with the fires here in So Cal.

This was not even sharpened, no adjustments in PS, just straight out from the 10D- 28-135, comp -1, evaluative metering, ISO 400

Excellent shot Steve, these fires are all over the news and weather channel here in p.a, very impressive image and its not even sharpened. Why did you decide to leave it unsharpened? Just curious!! I like this one and would love to go out there for some images myself!!

Nice shot. I find that I don't sharpen some of my images like my aurora images in which sharpening will just enhance the grain in film.

Looks cool - looks like your camera is in 8 bit mode though given the banding.

Nice image. The smoke does beautiful things with the light.

A very strong image!! Something is terribly wrong, and this image shows it in a scary way.
