This lioness and 5 other pride members had finished an adult giraffe in just over 2 days.
Lions can eat up to 1/4 of their bodyweight in one sitting, so that's about 40kg of meat for this lady.
Photographed on the edge of Etsoha Pan, Etosha National Park, Namibia.

Thanks for looking, all comments welcome...

By her girth she looks well fed, low angle is a plus, her full belly confirms she has eaten well, I like it !!! 8)

She certainly looks well fed. I guess ~90 lbs. of meat will do that, even to a lion. The low angle makes it look like you are her next target! Very nice!

Low angle, full belly and head on stare make this shot stand out. Light background is effective here.

Bart, this is a great shot. I love the head-on look and the clean background, and I have no idea how you made it appear that you were at eye level when you took this. It reminds me of an overweight mountain lion that was a very popular captive subject a few years ago, although I know that this lion will only maintain this girth for a couple of days. Very well done.

I absolutely love the look on her face. That intensity, the eye contact, and the low angle make this one fantastic shot!

Ooh boy, this is one lioness in the prime of her life and excellent condition.

Good one Bart, the pinkish background makes her pop.

Bart,

perhaps a trick question, but as I remember you were there in September/early October. How do you know she's not pregnant?

It looks like a full belly to me as well, but I was just wondering...

Excellent shot any way. Can't find anything to improve this. Love the tail by the way...
