Hi all,

It's been a while!! Juanli and I are finally set up at home in North East China and have made it out with our gear the last two days. So much tougher than in California, where it has to be said we were spoiled.

Very flighty birds here?

Anyway, until we can get within a couple hundred metres of one, here is a memory from Palo Alto.

Alister and Juanli,

Glad to know you're now settled down!

A great shot this one is and I first thought it was a Chinese bird but no ... I'm disappointed!

I'm sure you were spoiled in the US! It's a lot tougher shooting shorebirds in the East. Hong Kong is of no exception ...

Great shot. I really like the pose and composition. I like seeing the whole reflection. All I would do is extend the bottom a bit to include a bit more water so as the reflection does not end right at the border. Good exposure.

Scratching its head while performing rhynchokinesis. A talented bird and a fine image. Nice to have you back posting your excellent images.

Rethinking my early post. More room is NOT needed on the bottom.

You're right; that 1Ds is sharper than all get-out. I'd better go get one now.
