Loggerhead Shrike

Found this guy fresh out of the shower in a tree near the nest. He/she was pretty cooperative and didn't get excited at the cars fairly close.

20D,500/4L IS + 1.4X TC II, 550EX + BB @ -1 1/3, Groofwinpod + BH1 + Sidekick (from the car), ISO 400, incident metering, manual mode, 1/200 @ f/8, cropped from horizontal to verticle.

Hi Jim, Nice shot. I like the perch (simple and effective) and the pose is good too (looks really intent on something off screen). The soaked plumage is a nice touch as well.

My only nit, is that it seems a bit washed out on my screen (It's probably just my screen as I often get replies telling me that my posts are too dark). If it happens to be the image though, you should be easily able to fix it.

Other than that I loved it.

All the best, Gearoid

My sincerest apologies Jim, I've just gone and checked it out on a Desktop and the colours are fine. Please ignore above posting

Now I just have to figure out what is going on with my laptop. Possibly just been staring at it for too long.

Sorry about that.

All the best, Gearoid

Gorgeous shot, Jim. This is not a happy bird, and I know the feeling when you inadvertently take a dousing. I would be tempted to change the catchlights from blue to light gray.

Drowned rat!! what a fun capture. Nicely composed. It looks a bit washed out to me too, some curves or saturation boost might help.

A fine shot! Sandy mentioned about the only thing I'd change and that is the tiny bit of steel eye look. Very nice!

That's one unhappy bird. Nice capture.
