While I was out looking for good landscape shots on Ile d'Orleans close to Quebec City a few weeks ago, I noticed this large field of cabbages and how the rows lead my eye up to the mountain. Now I know that this is not traditional landscape photography, but I liked the effect so I got down low and shot towards the mountain. Canon D60, EF 28-70mm 2.8L, ISO 100, f22. Hoya warming polarizer. 80% of the frame included.

Nice shot. I like the light on the mountains in the BG. Not sure about the perfect half/half placement of the "cole slaw".

Linda, I like your idea! The rows leading up to the mountain work. The mountain is colorful and very pretty, and the sky is gorgeous.
You said this is a 28-70mm lens but this doesn't look "wide angle"- probably the mult. factor of the d60 in part. But to Ken's point about splitting the image 50/50- you might have been able to accentuate the cole slaw more with a vertical, even closer to the cabbages, and having the mountain in the top 1/3. Did you try this perspective also?
Anyway this is a pleasing image as is. Just an idea for a different look. :D

very nice landscape - a refreshing respite from the ubiquitous purple mountain majesty images.

quiet and unaffected presentation, free from the delusory artifacts of photography

My photographs aim at being true, not at being beautiful because, what is true is most often beautiful.

Great image. Love the colors and the idea. Would love to see some variations as others have mentioned. Hate cabbage, love coleslaw.

also, would a GND filter have helped reduce the contrast on the bottom?

I don't notice the 1/2 split too much - mainly because the cabbages are half the image (but have a nice sense of progression) and the remaining half of the image are interesting layers of water, mountain, sky.

the bushes at the far edge of the field also help unite both halves.
