I do have a shot of him parralel to the camera, but his plumage was not showing on that side. I would rather the bird was facing the camera more.
The fish proved too much for the bird. The egret flew to shallow water where he drop the fish and then walked away. I suspect he realized there was no way he could swallow it!

Thanks for the suggestions. Here it is cropped and with more USM. Also ran through Neat Image. Thanks again!

Edit: without noise reduction

Funny shot Dan, these guys do seem to bite off more than they can chew sometimes. Cropping a bit off the top would help, and a bit more sharpening (USM) would make the most of the image.

Dan
You'd be surprised what they can swallow.....guess this one just wasn't worth it. It's a nice behavioral capture.....just think it needs a little more USM. Nice job!

Good catch, Dan!
I think the repost has gone a bit too far. Someting in between the two would be nice ...

Too funny that he just gave up and walked away. :) The repost is better - great "catch" :) :!: :!:

KK, I have replaced it with one that did not have the noise reduction. Better?
