The rack appears in top condition and very sharp! Don't mind the grass at all, but wonder if the USM has smoothed out the facial hairs a bit. Something seems different about the look of the face. (It could be the rear ear that is hiding behind a horn . . . )

Cool shot showing how animals blend and get around.. No nits here..These shots are sometimes difficult to pull off, I think eyes have to be clear to work.. Well done ..

Good shot in some really nice light. Looks like your DOF was just right, getting all of the buck in focus and keeping fore- and background slightly blurred. Well done.

Nice shot placed well in the frame showing how well the animal blends in with his environment.

Pete,

This is a very nice shot. Even though most of the images posted on this site are of isolated subjects, I really like ones like this that show the animal integrated into the environment.

I wonder how this would have looked as horizontal with space for the rest of the body?

Hey Pete,

I think this image really wants that other ear .. with so much grass in the foreground, I find it hard to discern if he's standing or lying down here .. my mind tells me he's standing, but it looks like he's lying down .. perhaps the other ear, cocked forward, would give it a different feel.

Juli, these are antlers, not horns.

I really think composing shots like this is hard .. very hard. They all end up with that "deer head on a wall" look. I've not got one yet that I'm happy with .. this one is pretty strong, IMO.

Cheers

Carl

I like it, but like Carl I'm sitting here wondering whether he's standing or sitting. Getting the eye clear is key for shots like this and you've done that well. Would have preferred not to have a shadow on the far antler, but that's a minor point.

Great photo of a magnificient Whitetail Buck! No nits at all from me. The hidded ear does not bother me at all. Whitetails will frequently have their ears pointing in different directions as they listen for danger.!!
What makes this photo is the grass and you did a great job of not having the eye hidden by the grass.
