The bears at McNeil River State Game Sanctuary are accustomed to seeing people on the viewing pad so some will approach surprisingly close, even a few of the large males such as this guy. 300/2.8 + 1.4 TC, full frame.

I've reposted this with increased saturation and a touch of contrast.

Thanks for the comments.

A nice portrait. Slightly warming this up and boosting the shadow areas a bit would make it even better.

A nice frame filling portrait. I think it could use a small boost in the highlights to make it pop a bit more but still nice work.

Given what just happened in Alaska with the bear nut, this is almost scary.

Great shot Tim. Excellent detail in the fur. Agree with a little warming to really make it pop :)

Tim, great shot! The look in the eyes is calm and mellow, but the bit of blood on the head shows this isn't always the case.

Hey Tim,

Exceleent portrait. The framing of the grass, the crop, and the expression captured make this a soulful portrayal of a fantastic animal.

Cheers

Concur with Carl. Very nicely done. Spot of new blood is nice since it raises the question what has he been into recently?
