I took this shot of a cosmos and hover fly last summer with my old hand-me-down 75-300
I can’t wait for spring so I can start having fun with my 100mm macro :D

awesome!
I like how the hoverfly has a dark area for background
a tiny bit close on the left.
can't wait to see what you will do with the macro lens..

Very well done. I love the composition. I wish the fly was in the lighter background.

Chris-

Simply beautiful!!! I love the colors, ethereal green background, the composition of the flower and green fronds coming up fron the corner, the fly highlighted against the darkest part of the background,............................................Fantastic!!!

I didn't see Ilde's comment until after I had posted mine
You got the fly where it ought to be dude!!!

Too cool - you nailed the timing to get the fly in the same plane of focus as the flower.

Excellent - probably even better as a larger image. If you can persuade the bug to come back and pose again you could move him up and inch and facing into the flower but they don't take direction well in my experience.
