Yellowstone NP, late July
There are a lot of things that I would like to be different in this shot (like not clipping the antler and a different or no crop on the legs) but the look on the elks face is worth the shortcomings to me. This bull was being approached by a tourist, point and shoot in hand, while grazing in the meadow  . The tourist came within 3 feet of the elk and I was thinking my next shot would be tourist on a stick  .

:D Lol!! love the expression.

I hope the tourist could read the body language, and made a hasty exit.

Bill,

Thanks for the laugh. I would like to see the next with the tourist paying the price but as we know it would be the elk and not the tourist. :(

Best crosseyed elk shot I have ever seen. A humorous shot to be delighted with. Forget the antlers being cut off, who notices??

The expression is certainly stronger than the short comings. Looks like he has an odd body stance also.

Are you sure he did lose a contact lens?!

Made me laugh out loud -- both the image and the story that went with it! Great catch, better than a whole bunch of perfectly composed grazing elk shots!

ROFL! Head position, eyes, mouth and body all make this one hilarious.

This has to be one of the funniest shots I have seen in a long time. I think he can't believe someone would be dumb enough to try to take him!
