This brown bear dug a cavity in the river bank at Katmai NP, AK to use as a sleeping spot. It was situated such that other bears couldn't stumble upon our sleeping beauty. Running water was an added bonus.

EOS 3, 500/4, maybe a 1.4 TC, tripod, Provia.

A unique bear shot Tim.. I like the very low angle here, looking across the water. Sharp as a tack.. Thanks

Amusing pose and behavior well captured. Any chance you got one with the same pose and the bear looking your way?

As always, thanks for the comments.

Rich- the sideward glance with him low to the water is as good as I have. I certainly wish he (she?) had been looking more directly at me. But I really like the sly sideward glance in this shot. I do have other shots of him sitting, sleeping and standing in his cavity, both looking at me and in other directions.

Very different shot of a bear! Great image. The background colors are complimentary...a bonus!
