Nikon D1x 300mm F/4 D 1/500 f/7.1 ISO 400 +1.0 EV Fullframe Handheld. Photographed on Dunedin Causeway, Dunedin, Florida.

I know this photograph does not meet the high standards of this site but I wanted to share this capture. I have lived in Florida for 54 years and have never seen this action in the wild. It was a wonderful moment for me, I wish the light were better and that I had been using my 400mm lens!

Comments and suggestions for improvement are always welcomed, thanks,
Bill Lockhart

Great capture Bill. With action like that, the light is not a problem :).

Excellent capture of the action. Sure it would be nice if the light was better but the moment you captured could not be. IMO, cropping some from the bottom to put the dolphin in a power point improves the shot and a bit of work in levels should make it stand out a bit more as well. Thanks for sharing.

Concur with Cheryl on the crop and contrast. Looks like the dolphin's enjoying the moment, and I certainly would be too with a shot like this. Terrific capture.

I think that it is a great shot myself Bill!
Not easy to get something like this, and you nailed it pretty well.
Nice action shot, and I like the detail shown in the swirl of the water.
Keep on sending them!!! 8)

Very nice, capture, Bill. I'm sure it was a thrill to see a "predator and prey" moment on the ocean. I agree that a crop might emphasize the subject more -- I would look at cropping it to a 6x17 perspective panoramic, which I find works well with a narrow band of horizontal subject matter,

Bill, I'd be happy to catch this action in any kind of light. While this light isn't dramatic, it's not a problem. I agree with the cropping suggestion.
