Red-Shouldered Hawk, Osceola County, FL
This weekend’s trip to Osceola County here in Florida resulted in some very productive shooting. I came upon this Red-Shouldered Hawk on a fence post in some glorious early morning light. I shot the hawk from my van with a window tripod and my 500mm with a 2x converter. After about ten minutes, the hawk glided to the ground (sorry, no image). I switched to the 1.4x so that I could capture its return to the same post. Alas, the hawk flew to the adjacent post further way. I then proceeded to move my van to a new position. Using the 500mm w/1.4x, I was able to capture the image below. It is full frame and uncropped. The background was also superior to that of my previous location.
